WELLNESS WORKSHOPS
Fostering Student Wholeness Through Professional Development, Family Engagement, and Wellness.
NEWFIT and The Be. Org are partnering to provide professional development, wellness, and family engagement workshops for families and staff.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Professional development offerings are 60-90 minute workshops that incorporate skills development and enrichment for all members of your
staff.
Building Healthy Teacher/Parent Relationships provides an opportunity for staff to identify barriers to strong teacher/parent
relationships and troubleshoot ways to make improvements. This session addresses unconventional communication strategies and methods to
build a foundational relationship with some distant parents.
SEL Classroom Integration focuses on gaining a wider understanding of how the CASEL core competencies ( self-awareness, self-
management, growth mindset, self-efficacy and social awareness can be integrated into the everyday classroom environment. Participants will
be able to identify standard classroom functions and make adaptations to be SEL focused for students.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
Family engagement offerings are 60 minute workshops that address common issues that parents face, daily. These sessions aim to increase
wellness in the home and increase student wholeness.
SEL in the Home teaches parents how to incorporate social emotional learning techniques in the home setting. This session helps parents to
understand what SEL is and how to reinforce what is taught in school. Parents will learn basic CASEL framework.
Homework is Not a Headache highlights basic homework techniques for parents that allow them to be more supportive during homework
time. Participants will learn how to make small adaptations to improve their home environment that fosters a productive learning
environment. Participants will also learn how to improve communication with their child and reduce the homework burden.
Social Media Safety empowers parents to make informed decisions about their child’s social media use. Participants will be able to learn
about the positive benefits of educational and social media apps, dispel the myths of technology, and also learn about potential hazards found
in chat rooms, hidden apps, text messages, and social networks.
Additional family engagement offerings : Establishing Healthy Boundaries in the Home, Family Wellness, Recognizing & Eliminating
Stressors in Your Home, and Positive Communication with Children.
WELLNESS
Wellness offerings are available for both professional development and family engagement opportunities.
Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate
interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — and resistance training. This group fitness class is a fun “dance
break” for staff during professional development or a unifying activity for families during parent night.
Kickboxing is a group fitness class that combines Tai Chi and boxing moves (punches, kicks, and blocks) and cardio
moves to increase fat burn, tone muscles, and condition the cardiovascular system. This class is great for all fitness
levels and is a fantastic stress reliever.
Yoga is a group fitness class where participants engage in an introduction to basic Yoga asanas (poses) and gentle stretching. This group
training focuses on flexibility, breathing, circulation and yoga as an ongoing holistic wellness technique. For students, staff, and families it
provides an opportunity to pause and focus while improving your health.
Bootcamp Fitness is an interval training class that mixes calisthenics and bodyweight exercises with cardio and strength training. These
group training classes incorporate partner activities and can engage participants at all levels of fitness and ability.
